Its Called Free Speech

I am currently smiling at the mounting hysteria of the left that another far left political party is going to appear on BBC's question time.

The BNP is a legally registered party with a particularly loathesome message, but then again so is Nu-Labour. I listen to what they say, but it does not mean that I will accept the message. Only Stalinists think that the media is so pervasive that I will automatically go and vote for this message or that message. I am perfectly able to think for myself.

As to the BNP's message, this is the inevitable response to Labour closing down the debate on mass immigration with the lazy and simple expedient of yelling 'racist' at people. They will still carry on thinking that they are not happy with multi culturism, and spending vast sums on translation services because incomers will not learn English. They can see the housing policy failures, the added burden on the State as most of the incomers are dirt poor who are coming here in the full expectation that they will have a better life. That is not unreasonable.

Just because Labour don't want to talk about it, does not mean that it is not an 'ishoo', with the vast bulk of their core support.

The Labour Party's favourite mouth piece 'The One Show' lead the charge last night with a very overt political broadcast, the hourly news on the BBC has become even more strident. Also the disgraced Peter Hain has dared make pronouncements on the subject of the BNP appearance on Primetime TV.

When the Rotten Parliament has proved so willing to feather its own nest, they should not act so surprised

Its about moral leadership. The British still have a belief in Free Speech and do not believe that banning everthing achieves very much.

A very good article on the Guardian by Nick Cohen was talking about how Griffin has aimed at this moment from the time he became leader.

But yes free speech it is and so it should be.

He also pointed out though that the BBC has been quite week on this issue, letting Griffin state clear lies in interviews and having leading party members on Radio 1 with zero effort being made to give them a hard time.

I fully endorse the BBC having this scumbag on, but I do fear that they will go easy and not expose him. I fully understand the Left's errors here, but I feel most of it is stemmed from a fear that this could go totally wrong as opposed to stopping free speech.

If he is not exposed and the questions are week and misjudged (Paxman interview) Griffin will come out of it looking like the answer.

By the way, New Labour may be nasty, but the BNP they are not.

BBC screwed themselves. If they denied the BNP they would be censoring a valid political party, which would only draw more voters to them. I just some female MP or something or the radio saying they shouldn't be allowed on because 'people won't be listening to what they say, they'll just accept them as mainstream', the condescending bitch.

They seem to truly believe that it is better if they just tell us all what to think, all the time.

I've written a good piece about this on Fausty's blog.

The BNP does put forth some odious opinions, among them (if I understand correctly) denial of the Holocaust.

That's bad stuff.

They have a foothold, and grow, due to the disaffection of many people who were deliberately marginalized by the political, economic, and academic elites.

The BNP gives those people a voice, a place to vent frustration at the ballot box.

Free speech and inquiry are the correct response to this sort of phenomenon.

Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

When this was first mooted we were firmly of the opinion that QT had to have proper rightists on there such as Hitch and Mad Mel, to make people think 'hang on, these guys are nutters and even they think the BNP are wank;rs'. But they haven't.

So we have some lightweight rubbish and Jack Straw.

Sunlight is the best option, but he must be pinned down on the biggy: Forced expulsion of non-whites, including mixed race children, third generationers etc. That goes beyond any issues with issues with immigration tht cons so many to vote for this filth.

I found one specific notation from the BBC (and the BBC only) rather interesting. They merit the decision as BNP have favourable representation in the EU parliament. Subtly not lost.
