But time after time, the Lib Dems have been right about civil liberties and Labour has been wrong. Making Labour a genuine libertarian party again would do more than cement the partnership, it would remove what has been a blot on Labour's record.

It was bad enough when that BMA representative claimed to be libertarian, but this takes the biscuit.
Labour, new or old, has always been the antithesis of libertarianism. Whether they emphasise the need for redistribution, for Nanny, or for Big Brother, Labour's policies are diametrically opposed to the libertarian principles of self-ownership, self-sufficiency, and freedom.
In a way I am not surprised, for to be a Socialist and crap on a bout "social justice" and such one must have a tin ear for dissonance, a total denial of the reality and utter bankruptcy of their ideology.
But even so, Mad Hattersley to talk about being Libertarian? That control freak war-hourse, that redistributing, nationalising, authoritarian.
It is almost worth gaining a password so I can post my exposure of his conceit.
