John Redwood MP is asking for contributions towards the Great Repeal
Act.
I am not a huge fan but respect his stance on the Liberties of the Individual, I spoiled my ballot paper for the first time in thirty plus years of voting as there was not one Party I could in all Honesty and Faith give my support to.
It appears that both Clegg and Redwood have caught the public Zeitgeist towards rolling back the intrusive State in our individual lives.
I have made my suggestion that without due process no agent of the State
can fine you, deprive you of your Liberty, Property and Livelihood
without due process of Law. I know this is in the 1688 Bill of Rights and Magna Carta, but by Acts of Parliament these have been eroded.
That means an end to Gatsos/on the spot fines/HMRC forcing their way into your home without a warrant and the four hundred other bodies that are allowed on to your property with rights to impound your goods without leave of a Court. An end to the local hardman setting himself up as a 'bailiff' to terrorise single mothers and old people.
Any public official with these powers should not have 'Crown Immunity' from civil or criminal prosecution. If it can be proved in a Court that a public official has with vexatious intent, corrupt purpose or the usual incompetence pursued an action in the 'public interest' against an individual they should be personally liable for such loss or damages. Crown Immunity is corrosive and unjust.
The public official should carry personal indemnity insurance as do other professionals. Not paid for by the State, but by an Insurance Company. Too many failed actions and that Insurance company would put the premiums up or withdraw cover altogether thus ending his/her position.
