Have been playing around with xtranormal, and this is my first effort. Dialogue is basically cribbed from the LPUK website. Feedback greatly appreciated
1. When you say "freedom from government", do you still believe that the main purpose of governments is to protect the rights of landowners to collect rents (even if they are collecting in non-cash form, i.e. if they are owner-occupiers), while benefitting from the overall increase in productivity towards which they do not (in their capacity as landowners) contribute?
2. "[If we increase taxes] the rich will move themselves and their assets offshore"??
You can move jobs offshore, you can move income offshore etc, so this clearly applies to VAT, income tax and all the other taxes on production - but you cannot move land offshore.
3. Completely agreed on "no bail outs" of course, but isn't the whole concept of "land ownership" a constant and massive bail out of "land owners" by the government?
Hi Mark,my head is a little fuzzy due to a cold, but I don't get what you mean by 'the whole concept of "land ownership" a constant and massive bail out of "land owners" by the government?'
Are you saying that you are against private ownership of land?
Maybe we are talking about Geolibertarianism. Not all libertarians understand why the enclosure acts (by which those with the vote took land from those without) are allowed to stand. Nice voiceover, by Stephen Hawking - didn't realise he was a libertarian ??? :-)
