Is someone putting something in the water that makes these people keep voting for socialism? I really despair that after what we have endured for the past 13 years, so many people continue to give the party that spawned blair, brown, mandelson, hoon and campbell their vote. Any normal person, who hadn't already reached the rational conclusion, would by now have concluded that socialism doesn't work. These people might not like the Conservative party (and I,as a Conservative party voter, don't) but couldn't they have shown some innate sense of being and voted for someone else? They actually make me sick and ashamed to be linked with them as members of the same country.
If you or key breadwinners in your extended family or close friends are employed by the state, if you believe that the state is all that stands between you and the gutter ( because the state keeps scaring you that it is), that it is the source of these benefits and credits (forgetting that they are condescendingly returning money any humane government would never have taken in the first place) and you are also regularly reminded that "the other" (bankers, big business, "the juice"*) are all to blame, should, must and do pay and should and must pay even more.
Socialism, once it abandons it's mutual, voluntarist womb, becomes a monster.
* at an anti Israel rally a poster read "down with juice"...
